There are two main options for 35mm, Super 35mm, 110, 126, 127 Superslide slide scanning

OPTION#1 SPECIAL SERVICE FOR DAMAGED SLIDES:

FOR PHYSICALLY; WATER, FIRE DAMAGED, BENT, WARPED OR SCRATCHED EMULSION DAMAGED, DIRTY, MOLDY, FADED, DARK, POOR COLOUR, EXPOSURE OR OLDER SLIDES.

OUR PRICES FOR RESTORATION INCLUDE: High resolution professional 35MM, SUPER 35MM, 110, 126, 127, 127 SUPERSLIDE – CARDBOARD OR PLASTIC MOUNTS ONLY – scanning with complete digital restoration of slides to J-PEG files with: DIGITAL ENHANCEMENT ICE, ROC & GEM, colour correction, auto exposure, cropping & orientation of the image, archival quality CD, DVD masters with printing direct on the disc and includes a poly clear case or file storage on Mdisc 1000 year archival DVDs or USB thumb, hard drives or SD cards.

Digital ICE4™: The award-winning DIGITAL ICE4™ technology automatically removes surface defects, such as dust and scratches, from a scanned image & is more compatible with Kodachrome film.

Digital ROC™: Automatically restores original colors by analyzing the base image and applying corrections to the faded colors.

Digital GEM™: Analyzes and reduces grain caused by the film emulsion, and automatically enhances the clarity of a scanned film image while preserving its colors, gradations and sharpness.

Cropping: Minimal cropping is done so you don’t see the slide mount and to give you a larger image.

Rotation & Orientation: Each slide will be orientated correctly if they are originals and clearly marked “view from this side” or “place this side toward screen”. Some copies or duplicates of slides will not necessarily be orientated correctly because there may not be a reference to which side should scanned. We will not rotate the slide for viewing  unless they are being used for a slide show. All the slides are scanned horizontally for the largest viewing and print size.

The quality of these scans are incredible and you will not be disappointed. We recommend this process for ALL emulsion damaged negative & positive films. Included at no additional charge is the archival quality master DVD or CD media & case along with direct on disc printing (no sticky label). Other storage media additional charge.

This image, above left is a “raw” scan of badly abused 35mm slide. The same slide on the right was scanned with only the Digital ICE defect-removal activated. NO manual retouching was done!

“Digital ICE” defect-removal solution is truly one of the most amazing innovations in scanner technology we’ve ever seen. (“ICE” stands for “Image Correction Enhancement,” Under optimal circumstances, it can completely remove scratches, dust, and fingerprints from a slide or negative, while leaving the underlying image untouched!

PHYSICAL RECOVERY AND RESTORATION OF 35MM SLIDES

Actual sample of a customers provided water damaged slide showing the original condition (left) and the Restored slide (right)

NEW TECHNOLOGIES, FILM RECOVERY/RESTORATION/PRESERVATION TECHNIQUES, EQUIPMENT AND OUR TECHNICIANS CAN TAKE EVEN THE WORST DAMAGED FILM AND RECOVER, SCAN AND SAVE YOUR MEMORIES. THIS INCLUDES; WARPED, BRITTLE, SHRUNK, TWISTED, WATER, SMOKE & FIRE DAMAGED FILM. There are many variables that affect the stability of film materials, and each circumstance is different.

WATER DAMAGED SLIDES; Recovered images can be poor to excellent. The biggest issue with water damaged film is usually the damage to, or complete removal of the emulsion (images) resulting in poor image quality and mold that can build up over time after the film has been exposed to water then left to dry. We treat and recover the film to prevent any further loss to the emulsion. The film itself is usually not too warped or shrunk unless it has been emerged in water for a lengthy time and then dried.

OPTION#2 RAW – NO ENHANCEMENTS OR CORRECTIONS

Slides must be in perfect physical condition in undamaged cardboard or plastic mounts only or additional charges apply for this option.

35MM, SUPER 35MM, 110, 126, 127, 127 SUPERSLIDE

PROFESSIONAL SLIDE SCANNING NO AUTO COLOUR, NO AUTO BALANCE, NO AUTO EXPOSURE, NO SCRATCH OR DUST REMOVAL IS DONE. Minimal cropping, slides are not rotated but are orientated.

RAW SLIDE SCANNING does not process the picture (image), leaving total control of the editing to the user. This means your photo does not receive any processes such as Auto Balance, Auto Exposure, Auto contrast or Auto colour during the slide conversion to a digital file. Most popular and least expensive option for those who have a lot of slides and want to do their own post work.

Cropping: Minimal cropping is done so you don’t see the slide mount.

Rotation & Orientation: Each slide will be orientated and scanned correctly if they are originals and being used for a slideshow and clearly marked “view from this side” or “place this side toward screen”. Some copies or duplicates of slides will not necessarily be orientated correctly because there may not be a reference to which side should scanned. All the slides are scanned horizontally for the largest viewing and print size.

J-PEG @ 2000 DPI – MOST POPULAR OPTION FOR “RAW” SLIDE SCANNING – Slides scanned “RAW” at approximately 6MB. Allows largest print size of 8″x 10″ and the most acceptable for viewing the slides on the TV, computer screen, creating a slideshow, making prints, uploading on the Internet, or for use with e-mail. It’s also a good choice because it’s very popular and likely to be around for a long time.
