Resuming Canada Post operations: Important information for customers – Updated Dec 18, 2024 @ 9:01 PM
Operations update: Accepting your parcels and mail starting December 19
Thank you for your patience as we safely ramp up and stabilize our operations across the country. After welcoming back our employees and restarting our machines and vehicles, our network became fully operational Wednesday afternoon and Canadians have started to receive mail.
Beginning tomorrow, December 19, we will begin accepting commercial inductions into our network. We will resume scheduled pickups and you will be able to drop off mail and parcels at our plants, depots and commercial deposit centres (CDCs). All new mail and parcels will be processed on a first-in, first-out basis. Customers should expect delivery delays through the remainder of 2024 and into January 2025.
What this means for your business
As we stabilize our operations, here is an update on what you can expect in the days ahead:
Parcels
•
Beginning Thursday, December 19, parcels can be inducted at receipt verification units (RVUs) and CDCs.
•
You may experience lineups and delays at our facilities for the first few days. Therefore, we may not have the ability to complete live offloads. We ask for your patience.
•
Customers can also expect delays when waiting to receive empty tractor trailers. For the first few days, equipment availability will be a challenge and we will fulfill on a best-effort basis.
•
Scheduled pickups will start on Thursday, December 19, but it will take several days to process items. We will make a best effort to collect all items at the time of the pickup; if that is not possible due to volumes or equipment availability, we will return to pick up the remaining items either the same day or next day. It is important to note that there will be delays from the time is it picked up to when processing begins.
•
On-demand pickups will not be available until Monday, December 23.
As new volumes are accepted, mail and parcels will be secured and delivered on a first-in, first-out basis. Customers should expect delivery delays through the remainder of 2024 and into January 2025.
Regular updates on all postal service disruptions in Canada are available at canadapost.ca/negotiations.
INCREASED SHIPPING COST WITHIN CANADA & THE USA IN 2025
New post & courier pricing and surcharges being introduced in January of 2025 will result in adjusted pricing to reflect the increasing costs of processing and delivery by these companies. Several companies including Canada Post/USPS have increased Parcel Services, shipping option and surcharges and new peak season surcharges. As a result we have increased the cost of return shipping. We are committed to ensuring our shipping pricing remains competitive and consistent with past adjustments, and that you continue to receive the best possible customer experience. Pricing will be updated on our shipping page and any new estimates or quotes provided. Effective Wednesday January 6th these new prices will take effect. Free Return Shipping is still available and the minimum charge for free return shipping by mail or courier & free return local deliveries by mail or courier applies to most orders valued at $1200.00 Canadian (CND) or more. (some restrictions apply see shipping.)
