WE CORRECT VIDEOTAPE SIGNAL LOSS &  UNSTABLE IMAGES We use a TBC (time base corrector) and AVDC (Audio/video digital converter) which helps hue and sharpness, eliminate picture jitter and time base errors from videotape playback and insure a stable on-screen image. These are uncompressed video files called, Audio-Video Interleaved (AVI) file (DV TYPE 1 AVI files) at a bit rate of 25.0 Mbps and a display size of 720 x 480 in a video format of NTSC, unless you have 16:9 widescreen or HD footage then we can discuss these options. AVI files are the standard in the video industry for analog capture of 720 x 480 video tape and are used for editing in a computer or viewing in standard Windows format viewing software and compatible Mac software. The files can be placed on media such as portable hard drives, High Speed 3.0 USB Thumb Drives or Class 10 SD Cards. Estimated 4GB for each 20 minutes of video.

We use a TBC (time base corrector) and AVDC (Audio/video digital converter) which helps hue and sharpness, eliminate picture jitter and time base errors from videotape playback and insure a stable on-screen image. Videos are upscaled using a VIDEO SCALER (upscaler). These are video files called, H.264 and are upscaled to HD High Definition in a display size of 1280 x 720 in widescreen format from SD standard video at a bit rate of 10.0 Mbps (comparable to DVD video). Used for viewing in standard Windows format software and compatible Mac software. A video scaler is a system which converts video signals from one display resolution to another; typically, scalers are used to convert a signal from a lower resolution (such as 480p standard definition  (SD) - VHS, Video 8, Betamax, laserdiscs) to a higher resolution such as HD high definition, a process known as "upconversion" or "upscaling".

IMPORTANT NOTE: THESE ARE High Definition video files in a display size of 1280 x 720 in "widescreen" format. If your video is originally 480p standard definition (SD) "square" format the picture is stretched to fit the widescreen format.

*SPECIAL VIDEO RESTORATION SERVICES

*VIDEO TAPE RESTORATION

Dirt, dust, mold, damaged by being submerged in water as a result of a flood or disaster or has been exposed to other liquids or damaged caused by heat or high humidity, sticky-tape syndrome or heavy mold can be repaired depending on the tapes condition. There are several ways of restoring a tape and they should all be preformed by our professionals who have experience in dealing with problem tapes. Magnetic tape restoration can be defined as a process by which a video or audiotape, degraded by age, is temporarily or permanently transcribed to a playable condition and returned to its original state. The process is not meant to extend the tape's life, but to bring it back to a place where it can be played backed successfully and transferred to another media. The new master would be as faithful a reproduction of the original as possible without altering the quality. There are several options depending on the symptoms. We have cleaning machines that use tissue and fabric that has been found to be the safest, most-efficient way of cleaning a tape of chemical residue and debris. Sticky-tape syndrome, which occurs when a tape's binder layer begins to delaminate from the base material is the most difficult to restore. The process of bringing a tape back to a playable condition can be a complicated procedure. Tapes in this condition will not playback easily, if at all. If properly identified, these tapes can benefit from exposure to elevated temperatures (Baking) for several hours, which bakes the binder back onto the base material. This consolidation of binder and base stabilizes the tape system so that it can be played once while the information is copied on to a more stable format. Baking tapes is an extreme measure that irreversibly physically modifies the tape. The results from the baking process are not always successful. Depending on what is required to get a stable & clean picture & audio. Cost is on a per hour basis and would be calculated upon inspection of the videotape.
